DESIGN I love vertical timeline infographics and wanted to try my hand at making one. As a long-time Disney fan, I knew I could reduce the realism on the princesses without getting rid of essential details that make it clear who they are. My inspiration on the color scheme of the timeline is from Sleeping Beauty, when the fairies are arguing if Aurora's dress should be pink or blue. As this graphic is pretty large, it did not export to a very nice web image. The version in photoshop is not super pixelated. I also included a few larger examples of what the princesses look like outside of the infographic.
PHOTOSHOP To reduce the realism of each princess, I selected an area (like a dress) using the quick selector and the pen and then did Blur > Average so it would retain it's tonality and I didn't have to guess on colors. I created the timeline with a rectangle filled with a gradient and then added the dots. I tried to keep as few fonts as possible, so I used the classic Disney font for a logo and then did the rest of the header and dates in the same font. The titles are a different font to add a little character. The dates all have the same layer style as I created a new style and applied it to all of them. I also added a drop shadow to all of the movie titles and princess silhouettes to add more contrast so they stood out from the background.
